Last week on RadioLab, I was touched by the story of Lucy - a chimp taken from her mother shortly after birth and raised by a family, as a HUMAN, for the purpose of a psychology “experiment.”
I think we can all predict the ending to this story is not be a happy one. It illustrates the sentience of animals and our limited perception of this emotion due to language barriers or sheer disconnect from the natural world. Respect, for all life, is not only crucial for the health of our planet, but also the prosperity of the human race.
